An arbitrary piece of meta-data, like a label that helps identify/differentiate/annotate a Machine is called a tag. The act of associating a tag to a Machine is called tagging. Tags provide a convenient way to mark a particular Machine or a set of Machines, thus enabling a specific search for these Machines later.
